We need coaches at all levels to support:
– Social teams (U12–U18) – Coach a local team and help players enjoy the game, learn new skills, and develop teamwork.
– Development programs – Be part of structured programs like Learn to Play, school clinics, and holiday camps, designed to build basketball fundamentals and confidence.
You don’t need to be an expert. If you’ve got enthusiasm, a growth mindset, and a love for the game, we’ll help with the rest.
We’re committed to helping you succeed. All our coaches receive:
– Mentoring from our dedicated Development Officer
– Session plans and training resources
– Access to accreditation courses through Basketball Australia
– A clear coaching pathway if you want to level up
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refine your skills, you’ll be supported every step of the way.
We believe great coaching does more than build players – it builds people. Our coaching approach focuses on:
– Skill development at all levels
– Identifying and nurturing talent
– Keeping players engaged and having fun
– Fostering a lifelong love of basketball
We want every player to feel valued, learn something new, and leave the court smiling.
– Development programs – Coaches are paid for these structured sessions run by the association.
– Team coaches – Volunteer positions (though teams may arrange private agreements with their coaches).
Either way, you’ll be making a real difference in the lives of local young athletes.
To coach with us, you’ll need:
– A valid Working With Children Check (mandatory)
– A commitment to gaining your Club Coach qualification (we’ll help you get there!)
– A willingness to attend briefings and follow our child safety and game development policies
Are you ready to take the next step in your coaching journey?
We’re looking for passionate, committed coaches to lead our Blue Mountains Magic representative teams. These roles involve working with talented junior athletes in a more competitive environment, helping them refine their skills, understand the game at a higher level, and represent the region with pride.
Representative coaching roles require:
– A strong foundation in basketball coaching
– Excellent communication and leadership skills
– Completion (or willingness to complete) the Club Coach accreditation (mandatory)
– Availability for regular training sessions and weekend tournaments
