Registration

All players, coaches, managers and referees are required to have valid membership with Blue Mountains Basketball Association.

Registration fees include registration with Basketball NSW which covers your insurance and other benefits for 365 days.

All registrations must be completed online via Basketball Connect.

Secondary Registration

If you already hold an active Basketball NSW Membership with another association, you will need to complete a Secondary Registration with BMBA to participate in our competitions.

This secondary registration will remain valid until the expiration of your primary registration.

Basketball Connect will automatically adjust the registration fee based on your primary registration status with Basketball NSW.

If you wish to register with another association as your primary membership, please ensure you complete that process first as the system will automatically assign your primary status if you are a new player or if your previous registration has expired.

For more information about Basketball NSW memberships, visit BNSW’s Website.

Nominate a Team

BMBA does not form teams for our domestic competitions.

We rely on members to form and manage their own teams within the competition.

All teams must have a ‘Team Manager’ who will register each team and invite the players. The system will provide a unique link to each invited player to join the team. It is important that only ONE person from each team completes the team registration process.

If you are joining a team (this must happen at the beginning of every season), wait for your Manager to send your invitation and follow the links provided to complete your Individual Registration (if due) and pay your Season’s Court Fees.

Instruction to nominate your team can be found here.

Competition Days

We run two competitions each year aligned with the school terms:

   – Summer Comp: Term 4 – Term 1

   – Winter Comp: Term 2 – Term 3

  ›  U10 & U12: Play Saturday mornings between 9:00am-2:30pm

  ›  U14, U16 & U18: Play Friday evenings between 4:00pm-9:00pm.

›  Adults: Play Tuesday nights between 6:30pm-10:30pm

All games are played at the Katoomba Sports and Aquatic Centre

Age Group Eligibility

All competitions are age based, and eligibility is governed by the following rules:

 – Winter Competition: A player’s age group is determined by the age they turn during the calendar year of the competition.

Example: If a child turns 14 at any time in the year, they must play in the U16 division, not U14.

   – Summer Competition: Since this competition spans two calendar years, a player’s age group is based on the age they will turn in the year the competition concludes.

Example: If a child is 13 but will turn 14 in the following year, they must play in the U16 division, not U14.

Working With Children Checks

All managers and coaches who are over 18 years of age must have a valid Working with Children check.

You are responsible for updating your own clearance number and expiry data in your Basketball Connect profile.

BMBA may request a copy of your clearance and any other supporting information as required.

Compliance with the Working with Children Check is a legal requirement in NSW applicable to all sport organisations and individuals who work or volunteer with children under 18 years.

For ease of management, BMBA requires all Coaches and Managers of Senior teams to complete the check, regardless of whether their team has underage players.

There are no costs associated with obtaining a ‘Volunteer’ level check.

To apply, please visit Service NSW.

* Team registrations are only open in the 4-week leading up to the competition start dates in April & September.
